BSi Steel dusi2c 2016

17 June 2016

Dear dusi2c 2016 rider

Well done to everyone competing in this year’s BSi Steel dusi2c! Although it is downhill to Durban and we remain in the river valley this is a tough little route with plenty of technical and challenging sections. The rain we had early Saturday morning caused a bit of slipping and sliding and hopefully none of you ended up in the Dusi River!

It is always great motivation for us to see so many happy faces. With having appreciative riders out on the route, crossing the finish line and in the race village is what drives us to do more. Thank-you to all of you for making this year possible and supporting the event and the communities through which we passed. The post event emails received from many of you are appreciated and the kind words go along way.

Although we have not held our post mortem meeting as yet you have my assurance that no matter how popular BSi Steel dusi2c becomes we will limit numbers to 300 teams. We will make every effort to keep the event character. That is for “Real Mountain Bikers”, riding “Raw & Real Trails” without all the frills and fuss.

I continue to actively participate in many stage races though out our special country. The more events I do, the more I appreciate how fortunate we are to have so many good events on our calendar. I think that it is important that each event builds on its own unique character. Some of the characteristics of dusi2c that we will keep and enhance on are:

  • Limit numbers to 300 teams.
  • No frills. No Wi-Fi villages. No chill zones. Just Black Label Quarts.
  • Challenging, technical, all manageable but safe trails.
  • GPS navigation.
  • Support of the development riders in the valley.
  • Our relaxed but professional relationship with our sponsors and partners. BSi Steel, Subaru, Talisman, Super Group, aQuelle, Clover, Easy GIS, Natal Canoe Club, Maritzburg College, DUCT, Durban Green Corridor and the SAPS mountain bike club.
  • A passionate crew with 24/7 smiley faces and a genuine love for the event and its riders.
