Hi all BSi dusi2c riders!
I trust you all had a good weekend and preparations are going well for this year’s BSi Steel dusi2c. With just more than 2 and a half weeks to go it is time to get planning... This newsletter will have all the information you will need to get organized. Feel free to contact our race office should you have any further queries.
Competitors must make their own accommodation arrangements in Pietermaritzburg before the start of the event and in Durban post event.
The dusi2c pass through Ascot Bush lodge on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg. The majority of the accommodation takes the form of traditional, thatched rondavels. The units comprise of a queen size bed with tea / coffee station, DSTV, shower and air conditioners on request. For Further information contact Reservations on 033-3468910 or Hayley Holder on 071 494 9105. Email address: email@example.com
Alternatively go to our website. http://www.dusi2c.co.za
DURING THE RACE:
We encourage all riders to stay over at Mfula Store Race village for the “Fula Experience”!
Each team is allocated one four-person tent. This requires you to share a tent with your riding partner. Comfortable chip foam mattresses will be provided. You will be required to bring your own warm sleeping bag, pillow and towel.
Accommodation for personal supporters: For logistical reasons, all supporters will need to make their own accommodation arrangements. (Refer to “Personal Supporters below”.)
AFTER THE RACE:
Competitors are required to make their own accommodation arrangements should they wish to stay on after the race end. There is no race village in Durban.
Although we encourage family and friends to support their riders during the event they are not allowed into the overnight race village. Any riders not staying in the race village and being fetch by seconds need to inform their seconds that they need to drive to Mfula Store via Hillcrest as they will not be allowed to drive over Marion Foley causeway. This is for the safety of their riders. Due to the limited space we do not suggest supporters come down to the race village at Umfula Store unless absolutely necessary.
We encourage family and friends to support their riders along the route. There will be restricted roads for supporters. Supporters follow the event at their own risk.
It’s time to get out your GPS and clean the dust off if you have not used it in a year. Or if you don’t yet have a GPS beg, borrow or buy one from EasyBike. Dusi2c uses full GPS navigation and each and every rider and team is required to have a GPS in order to navigate to the finish safely and on the correct route. A number of riders are trying to follow tracks or Teams in front of them and are getting lost. You cannot reply on past years knowledge or other riders as you will get lost as the route has changed and there are always new sections and trails. GPS navigation has been tried and tested in joBerg2c, sani2c and dusi2c over the last three years. It has proved to be the way forward from an environmental and sense of adventure point of view and it is very simple too!
The GPS files will become available closer to the event, usually a week before and will be emailed out to each and every entrant. Our GPS gurus from EasyBike work flat out leading up to the event and the files will only become available when they are 100% ready. There is no need to panic you will have plenty of time to upload the files onto your GPS. One day we will tell you what happens behind the scenes over a beer but for now it is time to get downloading and uploading.
GPS has been incredible over the past three years and there is nothing to fear. It seems daunting to some but once your routes are on your unit all you have to do is ride and follow the bread crumb trail.
Need to buy a GPS with files uploaded? If you don’t have a GPS yet, or you are looking to pick one up at a good price, we have once again teamed up with EasyBike (Our GPS Guru’s) and they have some amazing offers available on Polar, Suunto, Garmin, Powertap GPS units.
Buy now from EasyBike and collect at registration preloaded and ready to use for the Race or have it delivered to your Door Free of Charge. Contact them to find out more on firstname.lastname@example.org or visit their website for more info www.easybike.co.za . Quote Dusi2c when placing an order with them. They will also be available during the event if you require any spares for your GPS or technical assistance or perhaps if you would like to buy an upgrade or stop past for a chat.
